Phuket Airport is the second most trafficked airport behind Bangkok in Thailand. A number of the destinations that Phuket serves are only operational during peak season. A lot of direct international flights do come in to Phuket, but Bangkok to Phuket makes up a large part of the traffic.
Approximately 40 different airlines fly in to Phuket, and around 50 different cities are served. If you look hard enough you may be surprised to find your local airport has a direct flight to Phuket.
Terminals
Phuket airport comprises of two Terminals:
Terminal 1 serves all the International Flights
Terminal 2 is for Domestic Flights only.
Considering the amount of flights HKT handles you will probably be surprised at how small the airport is when you arrive, no need to worry about getting lost though, everything is pretty much self-explanatory.
As the airport is situated right in the north of the island and about 20+ miles from the most popular holiday destinations, you will need some form of Transportation to get you to your final destination on Phuket.
